I Applied to Oxford University's Summer Courses Program

Updated: Jun 20, 2022

Oxford University, aka my dream college, has a pre-college type of program where people can take college courses while living on campus among undergraduates while they are any age between 12-24. Ever since I was little, my goals for the future would change, but my aspirations to attend Oxford for college have not altered. Their online system is very vague, and contacting the school has proven to be difficult when in need of answers to questions, so I am not sure what their selection process is like. Brown University has a list of requirements, as does Harvard and other pre-college school systems. With Oxford, they only had me fill out a form with one question: What will make you a great student at Oxford Summer Courses? I answered truthfully, more-so leaning on the why I want to attend so badly, hoping that they will read into the inferred determination and motivation that lay underneath my awe-stricken words.

Now, I must wait. There is such a painful silence in the world while my head spins, thinking of everything to do with my Oxford University application. I have absolutely no clue if I'll be accepted. Online it says they reach out to applicants within the next week, so I'm expecting an answer around 5-7 days from today. Even though it's not that long of a wait time, I can't help but stress myself out over the exciting possibility that I could be going to England to study college-level Creative Writing for two weeks this summer.
