Ignite Me | review |

ALL the reasons I love the Shatter Me series are the same reasons that the people leaving bad reviews use as reasons for hating it.

The biggest thing for me is the writing style: it’s unique, extraordinary, and deep. I’ve seen so many reviews saying that Shatter Me is like a “creative writing class gone wrong.” This, I completely disagree with.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but for me, as a writer, I find Tahereh’s skills amazing. Her figurative language use leaves me SPEECHLESS. Her ways of expressing emotion, mental illness, etc. are just *chef’s kiss*.

I’ve run out of words to express my appreciation of Tahereh’s writing, so here are some examples:

“And we are quotation marks, inverted and upside down, clinging to one another at the end of this life sentence. Trapped by lives we did not choose.”

"Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures. No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence. Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and failing to rip their skeletons from our flesh."
